Pracownia Akustyczna

Pracownia Akustyczna was invited to design:

• stage management system,
• VES system,
• electroacoustic systems,
• room acoustics

for the Grand Theatre in Poznan.

One of the most important elements that influences the opera and theatre
buildings is the stage management system.

Stage management system allows to manage artists' motion on stage and backstage, enables audio and video monitoring of stage action, communicating with production management and technical crew, calling artists to enter the stage and broadcasting announcements for audience.

The main modules of stage management systems are:

• wired intercom stage management desks operated by stage manager, conductor and production management,

• wireless intercom stage management system sets for the running crew,

• public address system in dressing rooms and backstage integrated with VES, operated directly from the stage management system desk,

• audio video monitoring of stage action implemented in the stage management system,

• audio and video broadcasting for the audience operated directly from the stage management desk.

Apart from the main functions described above, the stage management system implemented in the Grand Theatre in Poznan enables the cooperation of the main stage, The Drabowicz small stage and rehearsal room, called Malarnia.

Such functionality of the stage management system is possible thanks to digital stage management matrix with many steering inputs and outputs.

Working in the Grand Theatre Pracownia Akustyczna, apart from stage management system, worked on:

• the project of electroacoustic system for amplifying the main stage and the auditorium,

• VES project for the entire object,

• reconstruction of sound engineer booths,

• room acoustics of the stage, audience and orchestra pit.

Due to the renovation of the audience, Pracownia Akustyczna took acoustic measurements and developed guidelines concerning auditorium renovation Monitoring measurements carried out after the renovation showed that the reverberation time characteristic and speech intelligibility were improved.
