Grand Theatre, Poznan - stage management system, sound reinforcement system, room acoustics

Pracownia Akustyczna was invited to design:

  • stage management system,
  • VES system,
  • electroacoustic systems,
  • room acoustics

for the Grand Theatre in Poznan.

One of the most important elements that influences the opera and theatre
buildings is the stage management system.

Concert Hall in Science and Music Education Centre "Symfonia" of The Academy of Music in Katowice

Concert Hall in Science and Music Education Centre "Symfonia" of The Academy of Music in Katowice

Pracownia Akustyczna created a project of complex electroacoustic system for a concert hall "Symfonia" (Symphony) in Science and Music Education Centre of The Academy of Music in Katowice. For this commission we created projects for sound reinforcement of the concert hall and the recording studio.

The electroacoustic project included:

  • electroacoustic wiring and signal connectors in the entire concert hall,
  • splitter,
  • wired and wireless microphones,
  • consoles: FOH console and monitor console,
  • concert hall sound reinforcement,
  • hearing assistance system for the hearing impaired in the concert hall,
  • recording studio electroacoustic system.

Ventilation noise of office & service building "Green Towers", Wroclaw - an analysis

Ventilation noise of office & service building

For the purpose of the investment run by Skanska Property Poland, an office & service building "Green Towers" in Wroclaw, Pracownia Akustyczna conducted an analysis of a ventilation noise coming from the devices situated on the roof of the building. Based on the analysis, detailed guidelines on the ventilation noise limiting were provided.

The ventilation noise comes from:

  • ventilation central units,
  • air intake,
  • exhaust vents,
  • aggregate cooling systems,
  • rooftop exhaust fans.

Wroclaw University Library - library acoustics and Voice Evacuation System

Library acoustics and Voice Evacuation System

The project concerned the library acoustics for the new building of the Wroclaw University Library.

Pracownia Akustyczna designed a project of selection and arrangement of loudspeakers in the chosen rooms along with the electroacoustic simulations for Voice Evacuation System (VES) installation.

VES is a public address system, which has to assure a proper speech intelligibility through the noise that increases during evacuation.

The acoustic designers had to determine if the Voice Evacuation System fulfils the basic requirements:

  1. Proper VES design - a proper selection and arrangement of VES loudspeakers.
  2. Library acoustics - the room acoustics of the rooms in which the Voice Evacuation System must work.

KCK, Kieleckie Centrum Kultury (Cultural Center) – intercom

KCK, Kieleckie Centrum Kultury (Cultural Center) – intercom

Pracownia Akustyczna was in charge of creating bidding documentation of the stage management system. The basic subsystem designed was the intercom system, often referred to as intercom.
Next to the digital intercom the following subsystems were designed:

  • announcements broadcasting - working directly with the intercom,
  • cue lights,
  • "silence" banners,
  • digital timers,
  • video monitoring and transmission.

The entire intercom has been divided into wired intercom - stationary and wireless intercom, which enables 8 hours of battery life on portable intercom stations, belt packs.

Seminar hall of the Institute of History at Wroclaw University

Seminar hall of the Institute of History at Wroclaw University

The project concerned the seminar hall of the Institute of History in Wroclaw University and it included:

  • noise control,
  • seminar hall room acoustics,
  • A/V system.

Seminar hall has 102 seats and its volume is 415 m3 (14 656 cubical feet).

Taking the same requirements for noise levels and acoustic insulation for seminar hall as for auditorium, the project meets the PN-B-02151-02 and PN-B-02151-3 norms.

The electroacoustic system of Wroclaw Opera's Summer Stage

The electroacoustic system of Wroclaw Opera's Summer Stage

In the frameworks of a project "Developing Wroclaw Opera House together
with a Summer Stage
", Pracownia Akustyczna was responsible for creating
a complex project of the electroacoustic system
for the summer stage.

Pracownia Akustyczna was also responsible for a whole studio control
room acoustic project as well as for a complex recording electroacoustic
system installed in a studio control room, summer stage and rehearsal rooms.

The electroacoustic system of the summer stage included the following elements:

  • signal connectors and wiring,
  • high-class microphone set,
  • wireless systems:
    • wireless microphones,
    • wireless return signal transmission, Read more...

Polski Theatre - the J.Grzegorzewski Stage acoustics tuning

Polski Theatre - the J.Grzegorzewski Stage acoustics tuning

The project of rebuilding of the main stage in Polski Theatre in Wroclaw included e.g. the room acoustics tuning, electroacoustic system, and intercom system.

The acoustics tuning applies, above all, to:

  • optimization of acoustic reflectors in the audience,
  • lowering stage reverberation time,
  • improving sound propagation from stage to audience,
  • the acoustic adaptation of orchestron pit.

The acoustics tuning required audience and stage digital modelling, which enabled to conduct digital simulations. Created for the purpose of acoustics tuning model turned out to be relatively complex, having around 1  100 square meters (11 900 square feet) size and 15 tys m3 (530 000 cubic feet) volume.
